I totally loved this, and now have to start at the beginning...Brian is an EMT...and gets shot and lingers in limbo while he recovers...he gets to meet people he has helped that have passed and ultimately gets a better perspective on life! Short story, but super duper great!

I RECOMMEND!!!

This is life

medical, fiction, series

This episode begins with Brian disoriented and in a strange place. He was shot twice and crashed twice, but it takes him a while to remember that. Meanwhile, he meets people he once interacted with but are known to be dead. The publisher's blurb gives you an idea of what happens, but can't tell you about the humorous parts sandwiched in among the serious. Not sure how civilians view the language or the kinds of things that happen to paramedical personnel, but those of us who are in the business feel right at home.
Jack de Golia is great at portraying each of the characters and their reactions.

"Call an Ambulance!"

You can't get to heaven on the subway.... Brian clings to life with his own style and attitude. The world keeps turning as he begins his recovery and the people who love him cope with the real possibility that he may not make it back. Along the way he meets some old and new friends who guide him. In the streets it's business as usual for the rest of the crew

I’ll begin by saying that it is difficult, if not nearly impossible, for me to be entirely objective about anything having to do with EMT’s, because a few years ago, some of them, whose names I will never know and who I will never meet, scraped me off a street (I was hit by a bus), poured me on to a gurney, and got me to help, just in time. So, where they are concerned, I’m not entirely sensible.

Having said that, I did enjoy this book. It was a bit like reading a novelization of the old “Emergency” TV show, but with a significant twist. The author gives us an interesting view of what the landscape of the world just between life and death could be like, and since we don’t really know, it is as valid as any others I’ve read about. But where this author excels is in character development. Each of his characters, both the professionals and the family of the hero, are vibrant, original, and so well drawn that they step off the page and into wherever one happens to be reading.

The writing is vivid and has a sense of immediacy that is delightful to read, and is well laced with compassion and humor, as are some of the incidents the EMTs must deal with. But this is also a story about love and forgiveness, and while it is never preachy, the message is clear. There is an exuberance about this book that appeals to me, and even with the unlikely happy ending, It made me laugh, and think, and even shed a tear or two.

The narrator gave a very professional performance. His speech rate, pronunciation, pacing and expression were all good, as was his character differentiation.

I give this book 5 stars, and the narrator 4 stars. I received this book in exchange for this unbiased review via the courtesy of AudioBookBlast dot com.

Full of Mayhem

A story that has quirky characters. Brain has been shot, not sure where he is at, meeting a lot of people that he couldn’t save added to this story. A lot of laughs of their mayhem Good narration added to the story. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Lots of ways to look at things

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really didnt have a favorite character. I thought the whole book was great and the way the point of view changes and are labeled so as not to get confused. I thought the story is well developed and the story is about a emt that is nearly killed and his journey back to his wife and family.
