Publisher's Summary

A man with a painful past. A child with a doubtful future. And a shared journey toward healing for both their hearts....
It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl’s pretty yellow dress can’t quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. The stranger understands more about it than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives. Before it’s over, they’ll both know there are painful reasons why crickets cry... and that miracles lurk around unexpected corners.

What a Surprise!

If you could sum up When Crickets Cry in three words, what would they be?

Grabs and holds!

Any additional comments?

I could not put it down. Its one of those books that I will go back and read again.

My all time favorite read!!!

Where does When Crickets Cry rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Best of all books I've ever read, not just in audio format

What did you like best about this story?

so personal and always with a surprise change over almost at the end

Which scene was your favorite?

As a heart transplant recipient myself (way back in '94) I connect with many scenes and personalities in this amazing story. Now I pre-order and read all of Charles Martin's works and am never disappointed.

If you could rename When Crickets Cry, what would you call it?

title is perfect (once you read the story)

Any additional comments?

I keep buying more and more copies to give away to friends and strangers I encounter

Interesting.

A nice enough book and interesting but I would not look for another by same writer. As an ex-rn I enjoyed the detail about the heart, the medical procedures and the transplant info.
It was repetative in places however, and more sentimental than I like; I think the author actually forgot that some parts had been written previously.
The ending was confusing and if I was the author, I'd rewrite the last 2 chapters.
The narration is fine.
