Publisher's Summary

East Antarctica: the coldest, most desolate location on earth. Two-and-a-half miles below the ice cap is Vostok, a 6,000 square mile liquid lake, over 1,000 feet deep, left untouched for more than 15 million years. Now, marine biologist Zachary Wallace and two other scientists aboard a submersible tethered to a laser will journey 13,000 feet beneath the ice into this unexplored realm to discover Mesozoic life-forms long believed extinct - and an object of immense power responsible for the evolution of modern man.
In this sequel to The Loch and prequel to Meg: Nightstalkers, New York Times best-selling author Steve Alten offers listeners a crossover novel that features characters from two of his most popular series.

exhausting.

tiresome rants on theoretical physics made it hard to maintain interest. basic premise was good. author should have followed original storyline.

Id have to say I was greatly disappointed

Initially I was excited for the sequel to The Loch, and it started well ... But then it took turns that just kept being more and more disjointed and entirely out of character for the genre. I was completely confused about what I was listening to and what had happened to the actual plot. Seemed like someone took one story and tried to ram it into another story, by another author, in an obscure and entirely different genre. Having purchased and listened to most of the authors work, including every Meg story, I was completely unimpressed to the point that I returned it after suffering through it to the garbage conclusion.

Slightly disappointed

As a huge Steve Alten fan, I have been waiting ages for The Loch and Vostok to become available on audio format.

While Vostok isn't a bad book it's falls far short of The Loch, I can't really say for what reason without ruining the book for anyone else. Lest just say the big bad under water monsters don't get much of a look in. As a tie in to the Meg series it could have done that on a much bigger scale. I have to say I am disappointed, after The Loch which was superb.

Big hopes for the upcoming Meg Generations book

Interesting with unexpected twists.

An interesting read and continuation from the previous book 'the Loch' with continuing characters and intrigue. The story starts off how you would expect a follow on book to go but takes a dramatic turn that leads away from where you expect and may want the book to go. Some of the flash back scenes can make for confusing reading/following but do add plenty of interesting information and continue the plot along nicely.

Finished it!

Finishing this was more a matter of self discipline than anything else.

This guys got a sermon and he's going to deliver it!
