Amazing story and performance

OMG!! This is soooo good; it is a short one day listen and so worth it. I can't really say anything about the story without giving away things you really need to read in order to fully appreciate the ending. It is rare for me to be surprised by an ending, but you could have knocked me over. This audio book narrator is amazing, he really brought Henry to life. I was crying like a baby at one point and now I am torn between needing to read the 2nd book and waiting for the audio version. Warning, this book ends on a cliff hanger, thank goodness all 3 books are published.

Wonderfully surprising

I'm not quite sure when I put this in my wish list, but I needed to quickly pick a selection this morning & went there so I wouldn't have to browse descriptions & reviews. This was not at all what I was expecting and it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise of sorts.
I was immediately pulled into Henry's story, his & Tom's life. The first part of the book kept me intrigued with Tom's disappearance. Then as things began to develop, I found myself breaking into tears. I didn't predict quite the emotional pull from this rather short story. Then to be taken even further off my anticipated path with the ending was doubly shocking!
The narration was great. Never once did I wonder who was talking & there were no overly dramatic moments that can bring me out of the story with some other narrators.
When I realized this was a trilogy, I was only too ready to spend a credit for the next volume to continue Henry's story, but I'm disappointed to see that volume 3 is not available as an audiobook. Now I need to carefully consider if I want to continue knowing full well I'm not as likely to get the e-reader version of the final book.

Outstanding performance and great story!

The narrator is really amazing! He could probably read a phone directory and I'd still love it! The story is beautifully written, with an unexpected twist ( a cliffhanger, actually, but the second book is already published, so it's just an incentive to get it ASAP)

Great Story- Cliffhanger

I don't usually write reviews but since someone else wrote a review complaining that the MC didn't know details about his husband's job and stopped listening I had to write that that's an integral part of the story so don't stop reading there!

Also be aware this is a cliffhanger and there are 3 books in the series.

Sorry, I can't

Sorry, how can you be married to someone for 21 years and not know the name of anyone at their place of employment? This sounded like an interesting story, but when the MC failed such a simple task, I couldn't go on.
