Publisher's Summary

Sofia is just a normal high school girl, worried about getting her homework done and looking cool in the lunchroom, when he shows up: a devastatingly handsome new kid, mysteriously covered in decaying bandages, and staring at her from the empty holes where his eyes should be. She thinks he's just a hipster, but is there more to this handsome stranger than meets the eye? Yes. He's a mummy. We're not really making a secret about this. The twist is he's a mummy. It's a book about a girl who falls in love with a mummy. We've read young adult books about teenage girls unknowingly falling in love with vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, fairies, mermen, warlocks, dreamwalkers, and trolls. Seriously, there was one about trolls. It's time for mummies, dammit. It's time for mummies.

Love the book and the podcast

Great book actually made me laugh audibly in the middle of work. I got some weird looks from people but totally worth it for this delightful book. Keep up the good work on the podcast Read it and Weep and I look forward to another book some day.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Unwrap My Heart?

Unwrap My Heart is to Twilight and Warm Bodies what Cabin in the Woods was to horror. Very cleverly playing with the tropes without fully falling into the horror genre. This novel has a great deal of cute moments in this short novel, but they all wink knowingly at how those moments are often poorly executed in works of teen romance, while not crossing the line into attacking everything this book is built on. Personally, the moments with the father made me laugh throughout the book. I listened to it at 1.5, which I think made the narration sound more crisp, and honored the level of comedy on the page.
