Did the other reviewer listen to the same book I did? I absolutely love this series, and have listened to all 5 multiple times.
I love this book because Queen Betsy **is** such a shallow, vacuous "valley girl" type. It's funny & I think the narrator does an excellent job of portraying Betsy in all her vain & shallow glory.

Vampire greatness

The whole series is great. The series is a combination of Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Stephanie Plum. Lots of fun.

Nose dive.

The first book set up a lot of drama for book 2 that was never realised. Development of side characters was non-existant and frustrating.

Here's a big plot hole that bothered me: in book one it's established that proper treatment of a 'sheep' or person you are feeding from is to get them off after or during your bite. Betsy is bothered in the first book by the King of the Vampires sleeping with three women at once while feeding but in the second book these women disappear and you never see or hear of the King feeding again.

I'd hoped that maybe this drama would at least show up in book three but it seems Davidson just decided it was easier to gloss over the king's playboy habits and pretend he's suddenly a dotting sycophant.
