Lessons on medieval torture

If you ever wanted to know how they tortured people in medieval times you'll enjoy this book. The main character has survived several serial kidnappers and seems to be a magnet for them. She's also a self-proclaimed sociopath.

The summary gives a good description of what this book is about. Aislinn is recruited to help catch a serial killer that uses medieval torture. If the author did their research then you'll learn all about medieval torture devices.

The cast of characters are quirky and well-developed. The book is pretty fast paced. There is violence but it doesn't go into real gory details. It's also hard to believe that you might come to like a sociopath.

The other cast of characters all have their own quirkiness and for the most part are as likeable and interesting as the main character, with an exception or two.

The narrator did a terrific job.

Prepare to suspend your disbelief

Christy Lynn's performance is god awful. I listen to audio books almost everyday. I listen to cheap ones and best sellers. I've heard a wide range in quality and she reached a new low. The voices she chose for the male characters were horrible. I know women don't always do the most convincing male voices but hers were just plain irritating. The main character was annoying as well. I really tried to like it and wanted to finish the story.
If you're really considering this book, consider this minor spoiler. The story involves about thirty deaths from crazy torture like impaling and it doesn't make national news. They literally say to make national news, murders have to be more shocking. So, yeah, prepare to suspend your disbelief for this one.
