Bravo to the narrators

African-American fiction is not just for entertainment. It can also be a medium for education. In this book, I wasn't expecting to learn about stuttering. But I did, and in the course of listening, I think I also learned the importance of showing compassion, not pity. A very nicely written, enjoyable story. I especially liked the fact that there were 2 narrators to give the male and female perspective.

AWESOME!

Truly enjoyed this book. It keeps your attention the entire time. Just when you think you have it all figured out...it takes a turn. What I loved most is that the story was awesome while teaching about people that stutter. I never gave it much thought...but now I feel truly educated about it. I think the way the author infused that into the story was BRILLIANT!!! I also loved the narrators for this. I'ma big fan of Ezra Night...but I was very impressed with Lizzy Cooper Davis' ability to capture all the raw emotions for the characters in this book!

The story very good. The male narrator however, was choppy and quite irritating. His pauses and inflections were unatural, and made it difficult to follow at times, It was as though he was reading the book with almost a below grade level understanding. It would help if the book was read by someone who actually appeared to have an interest in it. The female narrator, made the listening very pleasant, I laughed out loud several times. I'd recommed the author, as I've read some of his other books, but the male narrator? never. But if you're in the mood for a good story and can get past the narration, you'll enjoy the listen.

It Was OK...

It took me awhile to get thru this reading. I'm not sure if it was the storyline or the narrator which was surprising since I usually love Ezra Knight's voice. So, we'll just go with the storyline...it kind of just dragged out. However, the twist at the end was refreshing.
