Publisher's summary

It was love at first con. Find out how FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare and con artist Nicolas Fox first met in this exclusive original short story!

Con man Nick Fox is after Garson Klepper’s golden Peruvian relics. For Fox, convincing Klepper to hire him as security for the relocation of the relics to the Getty museum in L.A. was easy. Problem is, Fox wasn’t planning on Klepper also enlisting the help of the FBI. Fox also wasn’t planning on being paired up with rookie special agent Kate O’Hare. She’s smart, she’s tenacious, and when she’s conned, she holds a grudge. Life for Fox and O’Hare will never be the same again.

The Shell Game is a prequel to the riveting series from Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg, which continues with The Job on November 18.

Great Preview to a New Series

What made the experience of listening to The Shell Game: A Fox and O'Hare Short Story the most enjoyable?

I have listened to The Heist, Wonderful!. This is a well written introduction as to how the series got it start.

What other book might you compare The Shell Game: A Fox and O'Hare Short Story to and why?

This is a series that makes you feel good. Good adventure, hints of sexiness, great use of characters and humorist dialogue. This short was good if you were on the fence about starting a new series. It gave a bigger sample to authors long time fans.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

He is as great as all his wonderful reviews say he is.
I am a fan of Jonathan Davis, but he does not have enough genre I like, not a Sci-Fi fan. I kept reading good reviews on this reader, and the 1st series sale had The Heist and a David Baldachi series that Scott reads, so I took a chance and I now have over 600 books that Scott reads to chose from.

If you could rename The Shell Game: A Fox and O'Hare Short Story, what would you call it?

I would have made this a full story, as it was great.

Any additional comments?

Try the new 1.25x speed to get the fast pace adventure the authors wanted.

Good story!

This is a good series. It's not clear but this is the first prequel with Pros and Cons being the second prequel before The Heist. It doesn't really matter but if you like to read books in order, start with this one. I hope the romance builds between these two as the story goes along.

Enjoyed this SS. Waiting for the next novel

This was a great SS and provided some background to the novels. Looking forward to more from this team. Really enjoy this narrator.

Was ok

Listened to this to see if I wanted to try a new series. I was not to impressed. I usually like anything by Janet Evanovich including those she cowrote. This left me wanting. I guess I'll save some money on this one.

Evanovich snack-sized

I'm warming up to these new characters and the short story is a good vehicle for deepening the acquaintance. Funny moments...

Nice quick read

Short and sweet. A fun and light read. Seems to be the first Nick Fox and FBI agent meeting. As always Fox wins and is more cleaver than the FBI. The ending is a set-up for a continuation.

It has the theme "alls fair in love and war". We might ask 'what is the follow up?'. This was a nice break from the longer books as is only 45 minutes. Would recommend this for a quick read
