Publisher's summary

Eighty acres tucked within a desolate vicinity of Birnamwood, Wisconsin, his farmhouse had been paradise, a much-needed escape relieving an abundance of stress and placing a pause on the monotony of everyday life. The crunching sound of gravel upon entering the winding driveway indicated the lengthy combination of highway and country roads from the airport ended and the seclusion he longed for started.

Once a month, fast approaching two years, the house provided a getaway of which most only dreamed. However, on a particularly cold winter evening in January, following the happenings of a well-known CEO, one may never want to....

New Short Story Author For Me

Impressive story written by Zachary Byrd and narrated by Mark Cayco. This is the second story I have listened to of Byrd’s, and again I was intrigued all the way until the end. Unique and chilling storyline, matched with Cayco’s eerie tone makes this another great listen.

I loved it!💕

The Twilight Zone meets Audio books.
I love this series but wished these stories were just a little longer. It’s creepy in a way that messes with your mind. It reminds me of the Twilight Zone series.
The narration was very good and he has the perfect voice for this genre.
I can’t wait for book 3, hoping there is more to this series.

Perfect

This is the perfect example of a short story. It builds up to a great pay off and keep you interested the hold on. They are different levels to the story that I didn’t see happening until they happened. This was a great short story. Can’t wait to read more from this author.

Karma takes a big bite

The Secluded Farmhouse is truly a tale out of Tales from the Dark side or Aesop Fables. Wow. Well written moral. "Do into others as you will have done to you." Amazing with the perfect narrator. I received this review audio book upon my request. I am willing and voluntarily leaving an honest review. I want to definitely read more from this author.

Great Short Story

Fast pace thrill ride with a wonderful twist ending. Narrators presentation was eerie, marching story line. Was told in a slow and mysterious demeanor.

Short story...much like The Twilight Zone

In a secluded farmhouse the only sound that can be heard is that of a ringing phone. In a remote isolated location where neighbors are few are far between a well known CEO finds some peace of mind away from the stress of work.

This was like listening to an episode of The Twilght Zone.
Narrated by Mark J. Cayco. Mark narrated word perfectly. His tone was perfect for this type of story. He brought this story to life.

Solid short story

I liked this short story. Not loved, but liked. Seemed more like a lesson, or tale, like an Grimm's fairy tale story from when I was a kid with a lesson at the end.

I was not quite a fan of the narrator though. It was a little too slow and emotionless for me, and almost like he had a sore, scratchy throat. I can imagine some people might like that effect on a story like this, but it didn't work for me. Plus (and this is a pet peeve), the narrator would say it's chapter X, but the audible app should show it as 2 chapters later. That's not on the narrator, but I'm guessing whoever edited the final copy. For example, narrator says "epilogue", but in the audible app, it's listed as the last chapter (#14).
