Publisher's summary

Performed by acclaimed narrators Simon Prebble and Wendy Tremont King, this adventure takes place in Victorian London, 1897.

Sherlock Holmes has been asked by South African mogul Cecil Rhodes to stop an international ring of diamond smugglers. An alluring woman wants Watson to help raise funds for her charity. Lucy and Jack are looking forward to their wedding and moving into a new home. But then a new series of murders take place in Whitechapel, and Lucy is targeted by a notorious killer.

The Baker Street team will need more than their usual deductive brilliance to defeat their latest adversary, or else the case of the Ripper could be their last.

A truly amazing story

I have always distrusted books which try to add new characters to the Holmes-Watson dynamic, but here it's done to perfection. Lucy is a great, attractive character, smart and believable. And Holmes and Watson are their true selves, both their characters perfectly captured.

This audiobook can be listen as a stand-alone story, as there are only brief mentions to previous cases and none it's related to the current one.

The story itself has a very well constructed plot and will keep you hooked until the very end.

And the narration adds to the general enjoyment of the book. A very recommended audiobook.

Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James

Please keep these stories coming. I have been a Sherlock Holmes fan since I was a boy. These stories take me back to a time when all the Sherlock Holmes mysteries were all new to me. I love the new characters and I thanks go out to Anna Elliott and Charles Veley for creating these wonderful stories. Thank you also to Simon Prebble and Wendy Tremont King for bringing these characters to life.

Solid Addition

~Disclaimer: I received a free audiobook copy of this book. ~

The story immediately draws the reader in with a suspenseful preface that features a manacled Lucy, hinting at the events to come. The book is narrated from both Lucy and Watson's perspectives, making for a well-rounded and engaging storyline.

While the book can be read as a standalone, readers who are familiar with the series will likely appreciate the character development and relationships that have been established throughout previous installments. The central plot of the novel revolves around the infamous Jack the Ripper killings and the theft of diamonds.

Although this may not be the strongest book in the series, it is still a solid addition that delivers on suspense and mystery. The dual narration is a standout aspect of the book and continues to be well-executed. However, there are some minor discrepancies in the recording set up between the two narrators that have been noted in previous reviews.

Is Jack Back?

Jack the Ripper and Sherlock Holmes...the ultimate match-up.

Crimes are occurring in London that are extremely similar to the previous Jack the Ripper killings. Is he back? Is it a copycat? Or is it something else...?
Sherlock Holmes is in pursuit...

I love both Sherlock Holmes and the mystery of Jack the Ripper but while this story had both, it lacked something. I did enjoy it but it won't be added to my "READ AGAIN" list. Narration was done well.
