What made the experience of listening to The Red Lamp the most enjoyable?
Like all of Rinehart, this is a beautiful period piece. It was first published in 1925, when paranormal activity and seances were a craze; several writers used the fad as a plot device. The Red Lamp should be as well known as Dorothy Sayers's Unnatural Death, since psychic research and seances are at the heart of the novel and the mystery, and not incidental, as they are in the Sayers book.
Have you listened to any of Gary Dikeos’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Dikeos has a voice that's an acquired taste, but he read this with intelligence.

I enjoyed listening to this audio of the novel. The narrator does a good job. There's the element of "well, this cannot be really happening" among the characters as events proceed. I found this fun story.
