Publisher's summary

One night. That was all it took.

Creatures that once lived in the shadows, hidden from humankind, have risen, spreading like a plague across the globe over the course of a single night. Their numbers growing exponentially through infection, these seemingly unkillable creatures have swallowed up whole cities and collapsed unprepared governments.

Survivors call it The Purge.

Against all odds, a disparate group of survivors has emerged from that blood-soaked night that devastated the planet and reduced humanity to an endangered species. Among the survivors are two ex-Army Rangers, a businesswoman, and a third-year medical student. But surviving The Purge was one thing - staying alive is another matter entirely.

Hope exists in the countryside, in the form of a self-sustaining underground facility designed to withstand any calamity. But in order to reach its safety, the survivors must travel hundreds of treacherous miles, with the night - and the creatures that dwell within it - always at their backs.

The rules are simple: Stay out of the dark, load up on silver bullets, and whatever you do, stay alive.

The road to salvation has begun…

Just okay

I found the narration to be fine...but the story didn't hold up so well. Not terrible....just so-so.

Will. He is a good guy and a leader who would never give up . Kate too.

Which scene was your favorite?

Hard to tell , I liked the C4 option.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Just Meh...

I hate to say this but I didn't finish this book and I returned it. I stopped reading about 3/4 through during the 3rd unnecessary sex scene. This is a relatively entertaining novel of you like crude humor and detailed unrealistic sex thrown in just for filler.
This is a simile idea to the books written by Mark Tufo, except his books are hilarious, relevant, and entertaining. If you like the post apocalyptic zombie stuff you will be better off with Mark Tufo or Ted Dekker if you don't want zombies.

Entertaining

This book was quite entertaining. I almost returned it when I heard the speed with which the story is narrated. Instead I slowed the pace by 0.5, which made it exponentially better.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for fast-paced action with a different take on the traditional zombie apocalypse. Also to someone who can suspend their belief enough to overlook some pretty obvious plot holes. It's not particularly gruesome, doesn't really push the envelope, and features an ensemble cast of young adults who are all attractive and Caucasian. Despite the apparent lack of ethnic diversity in Texas, I did enjoy this book, and plan to read the sequel.

l did question the fact that, even though most of the characters were from Texas, the only people with Southern accents were a family of rapists/kidnappers that lived on the outskirts of Houston.

Captivating

I really enjoyed this audible edition of The Purge of Babylon. The story was intriguing and well thought out. I felt some of the character development floundered, particularly Danny. Nothing seemed to be told from his perspective and his cheerfulness and jokes on the middle of a desperate situation seemed a little off to me. The author tended to use the same words over and over when a different synonym would be better used, such as using "backpedaled" during gunfight scenes over and over. And over....

Overall, though, very entertaining and I'm looking forward to the next one!

To read, and now hear it also !!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes ! I would recommend this audiobook to any and all. This is a excellent book from Mr. Sisavath. And now, being able to also listen to it also .. there really is no reason not to be listening to it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

With a audiobook this good, HOW can I choose just one favorite character ? I like all of the characters.. so sorry, I can't choose just a favorite. :)

What does Adam Danoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr Danoff brings his voice strong and clear to an already good book, so with both combinations.. The Purge of Babylon in audible form, is something you simple do not want to not get.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Did this make me laugh or cry ?.. NO.. it made me want MORE!

Any additional comments?

I did give the audible performance 4 stars, due to the fact that for my preferences, Mr Danoff was reading the book a little fast for me. But his voice was clear and strong, and I especially loved his renditions of ' speaking what the characters was saying ' . So go ahead and get your copy of the audible and or book form, and you will also decide like me, that this is one fantastic audible book to have.
There is adult language in the audible, so I recommend it should be for young adults and older.

Loved it. Original take on zombie genre. I think it's mostly written for those who love guns and action. Can't wait to read second book!

good zombie series

second or third time listening to this series, it's a good one, the later books aren't quite as good as the first 5, but the first 5 segments are amazing!
