Publisher's summary

A pig escapes from its pen and roots up the garden of Kitty McCloud, a best-selling novelist who "corrects" the classics. What the obstreperous little pig unearths is evidence of a possible transgression that the novel's three Irish characters - the plagiarizing Kitty, her blood-feud rival Kieran, and a sexy swineherd named Lolly - are convinced the other has probably benefited from.

How this hilarious mystery is resolved inspires both comic eloquence and a theatrically colorful canvas depicting the brooding Irish land and seascape.

Critic reviews

"The macabre comedy plays out in sparkling dialogue, including some hilarious speeches that are both incantations of Irish mythology and masterful bits of parody.... [Caldwell's] perfect ear for the non sequiturs of real conversation is a constant delight." ( Washington Post)
"Puts farcical doings into lilting language and provides a payoff that is as unexpected as it is satisfying." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Irish to the core, [Caldwell's trilogy] speaks to all of humanity... with a heart as wide as an Irish smile and a drollness that would be welcome in many a pub." ( Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Twenty minutes in.....

The main character is unbearable. His description of his surroundings and the people he meets are incredibly annoying.
Except for the pig. And I'm sure that's because in the authors skewed idea of writing, something unpleasant is described as appealing. And I'm not particularly fond of pigs but twenty minutes into the book, I'd rather spend time with it than the protagonist.
Sorry. This books going back.

A Very Light Read

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Maybe

Has The Pig Did It turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Have you listened to any of Chris Patton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

It would depend who starred in it and was it made by Hollywood or a European Company.

Any additional comments?

The book is beautifully written but the story just seemed silly. I really didn't care who killed Declin Toby.

The Pig did it

This was a story with far too many descriptions - flowery without a lot of substance. The story/plot was somewhat obscure & hard to follow. I will not continue with this series.

Over written

A fun story with interesting turns and twists, but like many other readers I had to put it down. The language is verbose and over written, I found myself thinking of other things while I was listening. You might want to read a sample of the prose before selecting this one. You'll either enjoy it or find the style impossible.
