Great summer audiobook! Go Sarah!
This was my second Sarah Strohmeyer, the first being the print version of The Secret Lives of Fortunate Wives (Note to Audible - Definitely add this to your catalog!!!). I love Sarah's take on male/female relationships and how her heroine's gather strengths, learn new skills, and come away with success. Yes, her character's decisions may not always be the ones we personally would choose, but the role of fiction is to entertain! Her dialogue is full of quick wit, humor, self-depracation and lively discussion. I liked the reading style of Johanna Parker in this book. I do admit I turned up the speed to 1.5 so I could finish the book during a recent road trip, but it made the story more intense and worked fine for my needs.
In today's economic world, The Penny Pincher's Club had a very believable storyline, and I felt compassion and understanding for the main character. The suburban housewife delves into tons of debt and her personal journey makes her stronger in the end. I'm not going to ruin the ending, but this could be a great Lifetime flick. Maybe Ashley Judd in the leading role and Mark Consuelos as her husband??
I recommend The Penny Pinchers Club highly and will now proceed to download more Sarah Strohmeyer books - probably start with the Bubbles series. Happy listening!
