I liked both the characters & story. Personally I enjoyed the sound of the narrator's voice and thought she fit the tale well, but some reviews reach a different conclusion. Thus, if you have the chance to check a sample, you might want to do so. If you are a person who is irritated by the narrator, I recommend you still give the book a try if you enjoy fiction set in WWII. I listened to the story while walking and found it perfect for keeping me engrossed & motivated on a cold winter day.

A WWII story set against the backdrop of the silk industry, this was a story I really enjoyed listening to. (I would have come up with a better title, however.) My only complaint is that the narrator has a rather odd cadence to her voice; at first I didn't think I could listen to it, but the story was so good that I just learned to adjust.
