Publisher's summary

She’s a debutante who needs to escape. He’s a homesteader barely scraping by to support his passel of kids. They come from different worlds. Can they find love with each other?

From an Audie award-winning narrator and USA Today best-selling author comes a story of unlikely love and true family togetherness.

About the book:

Pursued by an unwelcome suitor, banker's daughter Penny Castlerock will do anything to escape town and Mr. Abbott's advances - even visit her grandfather's homestead for an undetermined amount of time. Out of her element, she must rely on neighbor Jonas White - and his brood of adopted children.

Scandal chased Jonas out of Philadelphia five years ago - one that socialite Miss Castlerock knows about. Since then, Jonas has kept to himself, worked his homestead, and focused on raising his seven adopted boys and his daughter. The last thing he needs is to be reminded of the past and the young woman he once fancied - especially when she's so far out of his sphere....

As circumstances force the two to work together, their tentative friendship blossoms into something more. But can two people from such disparate backgrounds find true love with each other?

One family will brave the wilderness of Wyoming to fight for their livelihoods...and for love.

The Wyoming Legacy series includes these books:

Sweet and enduring

Loved how the author brings about a change of mind in Penny, and a softening of the heart in her sweetheart.

8 children?

This is a wonderful story of a rich woman who falls for a poor man! To add to the twist Jonas is the father of 8 adopted children, but he's never known the love of a woman! As Penny gives courting advice to his teen sons, she's teaching him as well! Too bad he's a bit slower to learn and much more afraid of rejection!

Sweet Romance

This book started out somewhat slow. But it became more interesting as Penny and Jones's relationship developed. Each of them was dealing with insecurities based on past life experiences but prayer and trusting in God allowed them to move beyond that. At one point I didn't want to keep listening because I thought I knew what would happen to Penny. Ms. Williams surprised me. When the anticipated event did happen, I wasn't expecting it. The ending was nicely resolved. Laurel did a good job with the narration. I would recommend this to anyone especially those looking for a clean Christian romance. The audio version was a gift and the reviews is my free and unsolicited opinion.

Clean historical romance

Any additional comments?

This has more of a character build up compared to other books of the same genre. You get to know the characters really well and how they change as the story progresses. It is about family, friendship, trust, change, understanding and romance, of course.
I really liked the family element and how they reacted to Penelope when she and her brother came to stay and help their grandfather. You get a few twists in the story which keeps it interesting.
I would recommend this book to everyone since it is suitable for all.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audio book at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrator

The Homesteader's Sweetheart

This was my first book by Lacy Williams that I had read, and I quickly fell in love with all the kids. When I saw it in audible, I had to have it. Nicely done. Good clean romance.

Sweet story ; terrible narrator

I read this story in paperback and really enjoyed it. I looked forward to listening. So horribly disappointed because the narrator’s lead male voice sounded like a VERY old man. It was fine for the grandfather and Abbott but NOT for a young man in his 20’s. Gringe worthy at best. I did finish it though so I gave the overall book a 4. Lacey Williams is a good story teller and this is a sweet, clean romance.
