Publisher's Summary

The Holy Road is the eagerly anticipated sequel to the runaway #1 best seller Dances with Wolves - a phenomenally popular novel that became one of the most celebrated films in history. Author Michael Blake won an Academy Award for the film's screenplay. Eleven years have passed since former Lt. John Dunbar became the Comanche warrior Dances With Wolves. Now married to Stands With A Fist, he and his three children live peacefully in the village of 10 Bears. But when a group of white rangers attacks, Stands With A Fist and her infant daughter are carried off. Along with Kicking Bird and Wind In His Hair, Dances With Wolves decides to fight back. He knows that he alone can move among the white people to rescue his wife and child. Told with the same epic sweep as its predecessor, The Holy Road is a moving story that readers will cherish. Stage and screen veteran Bruce Boxleitner delivers an impassioned narration that propels listeners through the full gamut of emotions.

Dances with wolves

While this book is a sequel to Dances with wolves it is more about the decline of the Comanche tribe and its way of life. This book takes up Dances life with Stands with a fist about eleven years after we left them in the movie. It is a very good book and kept my attention all night, so I lost sleep. I almost gave this book five stars but have become cheap with that rating of late and save it for the really great books. It is four and a half stars though I cannot put that down. I wish they had a ten point rating system. If you like westerns and you liked the movie Dances with wolves I think you will enjoy this book. Narration is good but Will Patten would have been better. This writer reminds me of Larry McMurtry who wrote Lonesome Dove. That is high praise from me.

The Holy Road

Good book. Dances with Wolves is my all time favorite movie so I had to get this book. There is absolutely no excuse for the way the US treated these people. Good story.
