It is 1855 and William May has returned to London from the battlefields of the Crimea, devastated by the horrors he has suffered on the front line. I wish I was warned!!!!

SO SO SO SO SO SO SO disturbing!!!! *shiver* The synopsis did not elude to just what the 'darkness' was at all! I was bamboozled! Has I known, I would have skipped it.

This is not a spoiler, it's a warning if you are squeemish like me: the main character is a cutter and the author is very descriptive.
