Publisher's summary

Together New York City surgeon Paul Branson and his wife, Nicki, had a dream: to help the people of the African bush. After Nicki's untimely death, Paul decides to honor her memory and carry on alone. In South Sudan, he channels grief into hope, caring for villagers and working to save Leza, a little girl with leukemia who has captured his heart.

Meanwhile, Jason Quinn, terrorist leader of the Lord's Resistance Army, has deadly plans for the people of South Sudan. But he needs information to carry out his plot - information from research Paul did for the US government years ago. Quinn will stop at nothing to obtain this secret intelligence, even kidnap a dying child. Now, in order to save the ailing Leza and stop a genocide, Paul must go beyond his medical training to journey into a world of brutal terrorism and global intrigue. With only instinct and his faith as guides, how far will he go to save the lives of thousands?

Intrigue, Disease, Greed, Evil and Faith

In a country filled with hunger, filth and disease, comes Dr. Paul Branson, after losing his wife to cancer . . . returning to continue the medical missionary work that he and his wife, Nicki began there, he becomes emotionally attached to Leza, a little girl with leukemia that he is treating . . . caring for a people filled with ancient superstitions and pagan beliefs, Dr. Paul gently brings healing to both their bodies and their spirits, telling them of the one true God . . . so when the giant black panther appears before Dr. Paul, he thinks that he will be devoured, and when he isn't, he begins to wonder about the legend of "The Ghost of Africa" and what it means . . . soon afterward, he is taken captive by the LRA terrorist group and becomes part of their plot to release chemical weapons of mass destruction into the water system of South Sudan . . . all they need is the formula that Dr. Paul once worked on during the time he worked for the US government . . . this is an extremely well written, fast paced story, that keeps your attention throughout . . . and it is a testament to what ONE man, a godly man can do against a world filled with hate and greed . . . this is a faith filled tale unlike any I've read . . . one that the hero is forced to take up arms against the enemy, to take a stand and be willing to die for it . . . the ending is phenomenal . . . I hope to see a sequel . . .

The most excellent book I've read.

Beautifully done. I'm sad to have reached the end. I hope there will be more. Loved it more than Clancy and Patterson. Wow!
