Great writing. and superb narration!

The only downside is that there is an end to each episode. A great sense of humor and the ability to build plausability into each story.

Great story

Another great addition to the Rivers of London series. Ghost hunting on the tube, kidnapping, and river gods make this a truly entertaining story. The excellent narration is perfect for the characters and setting of this series and the musical accomplishment helps set the stage.

More like a teen's book than Peter Grant story.

The plot was OK but overall the story is missing much of the details and little twists that I find enjoyable in the rest of the series. The feel is closer to a young adult story, minus the awkward love interest. This is probably due to the focus being more on Abagail and the length of the book.

Even with those detractors, Mr Holdbriok-Smith entertains. His characters have unique voices and atritudes which I appreciate in an audio book.

I am very picky.

I started and quit 4 other audio books in the past two days. I have no patience for marginal readers or clunky writing. Finished this one in one day. Completely enthralling, couldn't put it down. Kobna Holdbrook-Smith an amazing reader.

Very well done all around.

Loved it as usual but as good as it is, I know it's a short but I miss a chat with Peter's Parents all though it was nice to have more of Abigail. I'd love to see another series with just Abigail and I don't particularly like children in books but I'd make an exception for her.

The audio was really well done as usual.

Other than short length this is perfect

This is a British police procedural centered on the very tiny division of the London (and environs) Police Department dealing with cases involving "weird sh*t". The wit in the dialog and descriptions is very smart, but not dystopian. The world is contemporary and diverse. The tone is less earnest than Terry Prachett's Diskworld, but not as deliberately parched as early Johannes Cabal stories. This series has markedly fewer horror elements than some others in the very good series. The narrator remains outstanding.

Wonderful Whimsy

The Peter Grant series is wonderful. It's light and magical. The writing and storyline is full of fairies, river gods and goddesses and other mythical beings with funny, scary, and whimsical personalities that come alive with Kobna Holbrook-Smith's artful narration. I look forward to the next installment.

disappointing

This series is my absolute favorite for listening. Kobna Holdbrook-Smith did his best, but the story was not up to the high standard Mr. Aaronovitch has set. It was rambling and lacked the focus that his novels usually have. Maybe he needs to take some time away from Peter and recharge himself before writing the next one. (And I do hope there will be another.)
