Publisher's Summary

June 1944. In the immediate aftermath of the Normandy Landings, chaos reigns and lives are irrevocably disrupted. On an isolated farm close to the front line, Martine battles to keep her animals fed. Her German boyfriend, Otto, torn between his love for Martine and fear of his SS superiors, is considering the idea of deserting from the army. On the South coast of England, meanwhile, Colonel David Clarke is preparing his troops for the last stage of the Allied invasion. At home, his pretty young wife assuages her loneliness through an affair with an RAF officer. Though passions are ignited and loyalties are strained, honour eventually prevails.

Kinda good...

This started slow, and I found the 'headhopping' a bit irritating. The author switches scenes with not nearly enough notification. So one moment your in france, the next moment you are Britain. After the first hour the story picks up... But I ended up being disappointed at how the tale ended. I knocked off a star for the ending.

Excellent Story

This book is an exciting and fast moving snapshot of WWII right after the invasion. It is historically accurate and weaves a fast moving plot with a love story that spans Europe and Great Britian. I believe anyone looking to be entertained will like this book especially those who like the WWII time period. The narration is also excellent.
