Pretty decent collection

I enjoyed most of the stories and didn’t dislike any of them. Some had some very interesting surprises

Excellent short stories

The performances are something you can't really describe. The writing and performance continue to be great, as they were with Artemis. I found myself listening to chapters again it was so engrossing.

Twisty storries

I liked the short novelles. All a bit different, all a bit same, they make you think, they make you feel. Sad that it is short

Ehh, not his best

I'm not exactly great at guessing plot twists, but these stories weren't exactly tricky, or very enjoyable. If you try too hard to be tricky, you end up with groans. I was bummed, but not everything can be Martian great.

Sharpening his craft

I was interested in this to see how Weir has developed, and it's plain he has developed a lot. The stories here are simplistic, and most read like shaggy dog stories, with a twist end that is either predictable or disappointing. That's not to say that the stories are bad, just very predictable. Many read like rejected Twilight Zone scripts, and the headliner is so derivative that half way through ti was obvious what was going one.
Weir's later writing is much better, and it was interesting to see how he has developed, but I must say that long-form writing is definitely where his talents lie.

MASTERFUL...

Some simply excellent shorts here... Whimsy, suspense, sensitivity, provocative speculation, and gotchas galore... You'll think you know what's going on, or going to happen, and BANG, you're wrong;). Mostly, it's a magnificent display of craftsmanship in the storyteller's art... I loved the Martian, and not so patiently wait for the upcoming Artemus, and only more so after finishing this... However, the price is a bit steep even when getting member discount given the very short length unless you're a diehard devotee... Many others will probably want to wait for sale, or read E edition...

A bunch of short stories

What did you like best about The Egg and Other Stories? What did you like least?

Same repackaged twist at the end. Found myself more interested in guessing what the twist was going to be rather than listening to the stories. After a couple it got kinda easy to guess correctly.
