This collection of stories, originally published in 1922, is the basis for a major motion picture starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. F. Scott Fitzgerald makes anti-bellum Baltimore his setting for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", a fantastical tale with some Poe-like overtones about a baby born at age 70 who then lives life in reverse, his hair turning "in the dozen years of his life from white to iron-gray, the network of wrinkles on his face becoming less pronounced".
This collection also includes "The Lost Decade", "Three Hours between Planes", "The Bridal Party", and "Babylon Revisited".
"Having caught the flavor and interests of the changing era, [Fitzgerald's] stories were in great demand...as he became a chronicler of the manners and moods of the time." (The Concise Oxford Companion to American Literature)
