Publisher's summary

The best-selling author of over 60 books, Tracie Peterson pens soaring works of faith and simple virtue. An addition to her popular Heirs of Montana series, The Coming Storm takes place in the year 1870.

From a favorite hilltop, Dianne Chadwick surveys the wideopen spaces of the Diamond V ranch. There against a glorious backdrop of icy, rugged mountains her sense of purpose is rekindled, and she finds the peace that her soul craves. Still, uncertainty troubles her thoughts. A year ago, her fiancé Cole travelled east to help his parents establish a farm, and he has yet to return. When Cole sends word that he will be further delayed, another man steps in and professes his love for Dianne. Feeling adrift in a sea of confusion, she must rely on her faith and the steadfast support of her family and friends to anchor her.

This inspiring novel shows that sometimes even storm clouds have silver linings.

Too much tragedy

The story is good and I know that life in the frontier was hard, but this author seems to enjoy killing off main characters or even worse writing in such a way that you think the character is dead, but they are not. I don't know if I can listen to any more of her books because of the despair and tragedy. I was hoping to be uplifted but instead am depressed.

The reader is awful

This is a wonderful story however the reader does a terrible job. The fluency, the cadence, the tone of voice, the expression…ruined the story for me. She has a robotic, choppy voice and the accents are very childish. I listened for about half an hour and then requested a refund.

Solid story of faith and the old west

The continuation of the story started in book 1. The performance lacks a bit in the distinction of different voices by the reader and some mouth/breathing noises.
Overall a very pleasant story of faith in times of trouble.

The Coming Storm

I have been listening to Chapter 1 and the narration was so slow and dragging about killing of Indians and children in their encampment. Setting was on 1.0. Then when I reached through to Chapter 2, I tried moving the speed to 1.2 and it certainly speed up with the same woman's voice. Went back to 1.0. It is the troublesome Narrator that should never have been used for this story. The story goes on shooting the women and children that were sick with small pox. A terrible Indian slaughter that I write about. I do not see how she was able to write on this subject. Hoping that this book will be pulled from this reading.

This story was one that Tracie Peterson had not charged a credit for listening. Just had to add it to my Library. I did this as I did with Book 3. Feel badly about these stories and I have to pass on them. First time I ever have run into this situation.

This was written so good I felt like I was watching a movie.

Rita: I totally enjoyed this book. I would have liked to have heard the first one, but this was still a great standalone book. I’m going to try and find the first book and third one.

Love it

I love the historical base and how God ties into it all. The love story is sweet and the ties of friendship and support is heart warming.

Good historical era story of a strong woman who loves the Lord

It was a pleasant story from one of my favorite authors. Though the narrator might have tried too hard with the accents, it wasn’t anything that kept me from enjoying the story. The random Portia plot line in the middle through me for a loop though. It seems like the author left unfinished possible trouble with this late addition add in. Left me wondering if it’s to build suspense for possible character return in a future novel. I also love that we get to learn more and more about these characters throughout her other books. I do recommend this one.
