Publisher's Summary

As a man surveys the countryside for the construction of a reservoir, he comes across a stretch of barren farmland leeched of life. An aged survivor of the town tells him the tale of a rural farmer's family and their path to madness and unspeakable horror. Lovecraft considered "The Colour Out of Space" to be the best of all his stories. Originally appearing in the September 1927 issue of Amazing Stories, it is one of his most frequently anthologized tales.

Most Helpful

Horrible narration, ruins a great story.

Be sure to listen to preview before buying, I wish I had. Narration sounds like a speech synthesizer, no inflection at all, completely monotone, as if this were a recording for a remedial reading class to teach diction and pronounciation. After 2 minutes I couldn't take it anymore. Unfortunate, because I love the story.

Disagree with earlier review

I listened to the entire recording and while it was not a great reading, it was good enough. Don't let it deter you from this story. This was my second Lovecraft download and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was exactly right for a short road trip
