These were the times that I grew up in . . . frightening, uncertain times . . . and boys were drafted, going off to a war that would turn out to be unpopular . . . so many never coming home . . . they were my friends' older brothers . . . boys I went to high school with . . . it was the times of long hair, bell bottoms and hippies . . . but not all of us were really hippies, no matter what we may have looked like on the outside . . . some of us were like Susie and Tommy . . . real young men and women, falling in love, meaning what we said, and getting married . . . against the odds . . . so it was, that I listened to their story with hope and awe . . . through hardship, we find our true selves, iron sharpens iron, I love a Christmas story . . . a story of faith, and the story of Susie, Tommy and their family is a bright spot this holiday season . . .

This was a very uplifiting story. While some of the situations do stretch the reader's credulity if you wait some of the biggest stretches of logic are at least brought into the realm of possibility. It does take a certain suspension of disbelief, but it is worth it. On top of that the characters are ones that are likeable and you want to find out not only their ultimate ends but sit back and enjoy the journey along the way. The reader is gifted and adds not distracts from the story. A genuine good listen!
