Publisher's Summary

Greg and Tess MacAvoy are one of four prominent couples who count each other as best friends. As pillars of their close-knit community, the MacAvoys, Kapenashes, Drakes, and Wheelers are important to their friends and neighbors, and especially to each other. But just before the beginning of another idyllic summer, Greg and Tess are killed when their boat capsizes during an anniversary sail. As the warm weather approaches and the island mourns their loss, nothing can prepare the MacAvoy's closest friends for what will be revealed.Once again, Hilderbrand masterfully weaves an intense tale of love and loyalty set against the backdrop of endless summer island life.

not impressed

I guess I have questions how people can call each other best friends when they are doing the spouse of someone they call a best friend. It was a struggle to keep engaged in the story but in the end I listened to the story just to find out whodunit. Sometimes the narrator seem engaged in the story but there were times she was monotone and sounding just as bored as the words she was reading.

The Castaways-Excellent Read

I loved this book and the narrator was really good as well, didn't get tired of her at all. She kept saying "Quay's" like k-ways where I come from that's said "Keys" I found myself yelling at my dashboard on the long commute home "Keys, it's Keys" but I'm not from Nantucket maybe that's how they say it there - all that aside, I really, really loved this book, great story, excellent characters - downloaded Barefoot right after. A Summer Affair was my first by this author and I didn't care for it but I'm glad I looked further and found this book
