Pell yearns to escape the inevitable repetition of such a life. She understands horses better than people and sets off for Salisbury Fair, where horse trading takes place, in the hope of finding work and buying herself some time. And her journey leads her to find love where she least expects it.

Kept me interested

I was under the assumption this was a romantic novel. I would not classify it in that category. Very little romance but a lot of trials and tribulations for the heroine. One trial after another to test her at every turn. Susan Duerdan is one of my favorite narrators. This was my first book by Meg Rosoff. I would have wished better for the heroine. Meg Rosoff did a very good job with her story.
