Skilled voice actor Johnny Crawford performs this tightly-wound Western, which tells the story of two feuding brothers whose violent interactions cause them to be disowned by their family...rather than bringing them together, though, this wake-up call serves only to reveal more secrets about their past...and convince them to destroy each other once and for all.
Crawford has a dry, no-nonsense tone, and his matter-of-fact performance serves to anchor author Steve Frazee’s tense tale of familial resentment. Listeners will find it hard to press pause as Crawford steadily draws this dramatic audiobook to its explosive conclusion.

A legitimately great story
If you're new to the Western genre, this is an excellent 'starter' story. Steve Frazee always had a knack for wringing realistic pathos from his characters, without resorting to empty melodrama. His characters seem like real people, and when placed in peril they react like real people. The two brothers set against each other is an old trope, but rarely used as well as well as this. Preacher Yount, Brule Langley and old Pandiment Cooper are vibrant characters, and the ending was as tragic yet satisfying as I could have hoped. Just a great story.
