What about Martin Jarvis’s performance did you like?
Wodehouse's prose is hilarious - but Jarvis' performance adds comic timing that my own brain and imagination can't come up with. Somehow he manages to make the pauses before lines that I know by heart full of comic anticipation. Someone should create a Wodehouse narrating category for royal laureates and then dedicate it to Martin Jarvis.

Excellent! ! As usual a great, funny story and absolutely excellent narration by Martin Jarvis. Jarvis is one of my favorite narrators and he is the best narrator for the Bertie and Jeeves stories.

This idea I've always had that nothing is better than reading Wodehouse is up for review: Martin Jarvis's narration is superb. While I have no proof that would stand up in court that Mr Jarvis is a Wodehouse devotee, surely nobody could deliver such an in-sync performance otherwise?
I bless the day Wodehouse sauntered into my consciousness almost 50 years ago. When I first encountered his immortal characters, his swashbucklingly inspired wordplay, his mischievous ransacking of Shakespeare, the Bible and ancient history to illustrate mundane points , it was like being wrapped in a warm blanket on a freezing day.
Evelyn Waugh was right on the money when he said Wodehouse had created an idyllic world to which we could all escape when our own became too irksome. For me, that feeling of comfort, joy and relief from a sometimes loony world prevails and I expect to be reading - or listening to - the works of the great Plum until I hand in my dinner pail.
