How can you not love Bernie and Chet the Jet?

This is a Bernie and Chet mystery as they all are. I remember when the first of the series came out. So much fun! Different than other stories that are out they are all seen and told from the dog, Chet's point of view. But as much as I loved the story i found out they needed space and time between them to enjoy fully and not be annoyed at much of the same ol' same ol' jokes and one liners of Chet's. So i spaced them out and happy I did that & not just just give up on the series. Given enough space the jokes are funny again. Nothing is ever like the first but I find these are good to cleanse my mind between books with too many curse words and too much sex not enough plot! Chet gives a nice clean family enjoyable story. Hard to find these days! The narrator Jim Frangione is a perfect Chet. He gives him a great voice not a dopey animal character voice as other might when voicing for a dog. JF has been a favorite of mine for a very long time I can't think of anything I didn't like that he read for. Definitely one of those narrators that I choose the story BECAUSE he is reading it! He does the popular Vampire series of JD Ward. Another series he has become THE VOICE for! Would be hard to switch him out of it. I would go to print of the series of he no longer was the narrator.
If you're looking for a fun time that isn't dumbed down then give Bernie
and Chet a try. Really enjoyable full of laugh out loud moments!

Plot discrepancy cleared up

In A Cat Was Involved, I was confused by Chet and Bernie meeting when Bernie already has an ex-wife, whereas other books conflicted with that. This story clarifies the time line of Bernie's personal life. Not much suspense in this one, but nothing cheers me up more than hearing Jim Frangione as Chet.

Way overpriced

Even on sale, these one-hour long short stories are ridiculously more expensive than the full-length version. I enjoyed the story and performance a lot but after doing the math of cost per hour of entertainment, I felt really ripped off.

didn't get the gist of the case

We love Chet no matter what happens and what he and Bernie have to do. This case isn't really clear, can't tell who needs to know what, but Chet is tip top just the same. This is fine if you need some more Chet n Bernie, but not really anything great. Jim Frangione does his usual waggingly optimistic job on the narration, but can't save the story.

Solved the problem.

This story solves the problem I had with "A Cat Was Involved", namely that Leda and Bernie were already split up when Chet and Bernie hooked up.

Guess I shoulda listened to this one first....

Too cute for words...really

This was the second very short story from this series that I just recently read. Thankfully, I think I read them in the right order. That first one was listed as book # 0.1 and this book is # 0.3. Regardless, these two stories are the sort of "prequels" that give us a glimpse into exactly how Bernie and Chet got together.

It is truly hard not to completely fall in love with Chet immediately (he's the dog). He has that perfect balance of being cute, a bit of a smart aleck and just being so adorable as he tries to equate the human words he hears to things that he can understand in his dog world. Obviously, he tends to get things completely wrong a lot of the time, but to make it even cuter - he has a tremendous heart.

I have to say, from the little I've read, I would like to come back to this series and find out more about just how much trouble these two can get up to.

Sounds fun, right?

Chet is always worth some chuckles

If you’ve never read a Chet and Bernie book, you can start with Quinn’s short stories about them as an introduction. My other favorite is A Cat Was Involved, which tells a little bit more about why Chet was a last-minute washout at K-9 school (Chet refers to this incident a lot in the books, but usually can’t remember the details).

And of course, there are the Chet and Bernie fans out there who hate waiting for the next book - you will enjoy the short stories just as well!

Highly recommended.

Chet at his humorous best

A short story, but with all the best elements of a Chet and Bernie mystery.

Short Funny Dog Detective Story

If you read "Short Funny Dog Detective Story" and think - Oh that might be nice, you will likely enjoy this book. If you think "Ee gads" you should likely skip it. I modestly enjoyed it. This is not quite a kids book (as it has slight adult humor) but you have to enjoy the story from the various humorously limited dog perspectives.

The narration is great (maybe the best part).
