Publisher's summary

Prada-wearing magazine editor Lisa Edwards thinks her life is over when her "fabulous" new job turns out to be deportation to Dublin, launching Colleen magazine. No more jet-setting to the fall collections? No more fabulous parties and photos in the society pages? The only saving grace is that her friends aren't there to witness her downward spiral. Might her new boss, the disheveled and moody Jack Devine, save her from a fate worse than hell?

Ashling Kennedy, Colleen's assistant editor, is an award-winning worrier, increasingly aware that something fundamental is missing from her life, apart from a boyfriend and a waistline. And then there's her closest, oldest friend, Clodagh "Princess" Kelly, who is apparently living the domestic dream in a suburban castle. So why lately has Clodagh had a recurring urge to kiss a frog - sleep with a frog, if truth be told?

Save yourself

In the two years of being an Audible subscriber I've heard a lot of books and this one is the very worst. The narrator sounds like a high school student called to read her boring report in front on the class - no emotion, hard to understand her words, and lots of long pauses for no reason. The book itself is one cliche after another. Cliched characters, cliched dialogue - not a fresh thought to be had. Reviews posted on a popular bookstore website all say that the book gets better about half way through. I did not have the patience to get that far.

The narrator is hard to understand

I dont really know if the book is going to be good or not because I can't get past the accent of the narrator. I would recommend listening to a sample of the audio before purchasing.

Narrator problem

I wish I would've read the reviews before I used my last credit to buy this book. I had listened to two Marian Keyes books and enjoyed them so figured this one was a no-brainer. As soon as I started listening to it I started playing with my bass and treble settings to try to get the narrator's voice clearer. It sounds like it was narrated in a tunnel. I'll try to finish it since I have no more credits and hate to waste them but it is disappointing.

Decent Story/Awful Narration

I will NEVER download a book without listening to the sample. The narrator is barely intelligible. Sarah Palin with a mouth full of Novocaine doing a bad accent.

Boring Narrator

Caitriona Keyes does not have the voice or depth to narrate books....she is very bland and unemotional.
I could not get passed the first chapter..and would return if I could

Ruined by Narration...

And yet another wasted audible credit...this is the very last time I take a chance on a narrator who is related to the author, or the author him/herself. After countless rewinds, which indicates I'm not following the story, and after giving it 3 hours, I chucked it. This might be a good story but if you really want to find out, read it yourself. The narration is monotonish and so blah...time after time she used the wrong intonation of words or phrases which completely changed a passage and failed to convey the proper meaning. As I would puzzle out what was suppose to be conveyed I'd miss the next few sentences. This was a frustrating experience....Save your credit folks!

Good book, but a lousy reader.

I've enjoyed the other Marian Keyes books I've read/listened to, but the reader was horrible. I don't mind thick accents, but she mispronounced words (even in Irish-English) and made it all one long monotone.

What happened to Terry Donnelly?

I just began this book. I was so disappointed that the narrator was not the same as the previous Marian Keyes books I have listened to. This narrator does not put the same tone or humor to the book. What a disappointment. Normally, I check the samples. I made an assumption that the narrator would be the same. Well, we know what happens when one assumes...this happened to me. I would recommend purchasing the actual book and forget the audio version.
