This is all Ronnie Lake knows about her potential sister-in-law, Juliana. But she's determined to find out the truth about her wealthy brother's new lover before he throws away his happiness, fortune, and quite possibly, his life. Who is this mysterious woman with two lives - and how deep does her deception go?
As a divorced, downsized, 50-something, Ronnie finds herself becoming an ‘accidental detective’ in order to get to the bottom of things. There are unexplained hang-ups when the phone rings. A disturbing package and sketchy characters appear at her wealthy family's estate outside New York City. The growing mystery and suspense surrounding Juliana drive Ronnie crazy. Then kidnapping. It all pushes Ronnie to step out of her privileged life and into a sinister world where people will do just about anything to escape their past. Is Juliana the most desperate of them all? With the help of private investigator Will Benson, Ronnie jumps into this action-packed adventure to get to the truth behind a crime of abduction and family betrayal.

No Redeeming Value

Would you try another book from Niki Danforth and/or Judith West?

Not likely to buy another Danforth novel. The plot was pedestrian and the characters were without special value. <br/>Ronnie Lake is an amateur private eye who doesn't need to work for a living so she spends her time at a Dojo and pestering her brother who falls in love with a stunner who has issues with her past. It takes Ronnie forever to figure out the obvious. Even the criminals in the story are way short of the minimum when it comes to brain cells. As I think back, the smartest character in the whole story was her dog Warrior.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Unlikely anyone would be willing to make this story into a movie.
