I really enjoyed the book. I like how she developed Carrie as a young woman aware of the world around her and willing to find out why it is bothering her. She is a far cry from Scarlet, and I love Scarlet.
At first I thought the story was stilted, but now I am eager to begin the second in the series.
I would almost prefer a man reading because it seems more believable when a man reads a woman than visa versa-just my preference.

Love the Bregdan Chronicles

I’m on my third audio book of the Bregdan Chronicles and love the story line and historical content. The only problem is the narrator is horrible. Her Southern accent is not authentic. It really annoys me. I will read the rest of the series but will buy the book to read, not a pleasant audio experience.

Good story

I enjoyed this historical story but found the narration over-acted. Further, the sound of primary character’s voice was so annoying to me that it spoiled the overall experience. I’d like to continue with the series because the topic is interesting and the writing good, but reading it would probably be more enjoyable. The problem is that I have little time to sit still and read, which is the draw to Audible. Just not sure I want to spend a credit or dollars listening to this narrator again. I’m truly sorry to be critical as I know I couldn’t do better, but sharing my thoughts as genuine feedback and to help others make their selections.

The amount of research that was done to make this story so accurate, is amazing.
the detail enables one to put themselves right in the middle of this shameful, yet admirable strength of our fellow man, and woman, in this era. of some peoples actions, definitely not all.
beautifully written and at times horrifically accurate, i was hooked and am now on book 10.

Can’t say enough good about this magnificent book! Characters that you love and can really get into. A few you hate but all realistic and very human. The story grabs you right from the beginning and won’t let you go! The writing is exceptional. The historical data is spot on. The narrator…Wow! She is fabulous! Makes the story and characters all come alive and they stay with you long after you’ve finished reading the book! If you love period pieces or historical drama, get this! Highly recommend! Tantalizing! Intriguing!

I am eager to read or listen to the next book in this series. Think it shows good examples from many sides of this issue well from the viewpoint of 1860.
