Publisher's summary

Lynne Austin has won three Christy Awards for her inspiring historical novels, which include Candle in the Darkness.

The second book in her Chronicles of the Kings series, Song of Redemption, is a retelling of the life of Hezekiah, King of Judah from 716 to 687 BC. After years of idolatry, Judah's temple has been cleansed and Hezekiah has brought God's law back to his people. But when he incurs the wrath of the barbaric Assyrians, he will need help from a surprising source.

Magnificent book.

The book is written beautifully. The story seem very in line with historic events. Romance, struggle, faith, love, friendship, and political decisions. It covers all of it.

For once it is making sense!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely... Not only will I recommend it... I am buying this whole series for my mom.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the vast amount of research that Ms Austin has done. She has made it all come to life for me. It has been so great to be able to understand the prophets roles, the reason for all the idolatry and even the landscaping of Judah. I have just loved it.

Which character – as performed by Suzanne Toren – was your favorite?

I really liked them all. I was not crazy over Ahaz though. Glad he is done.

If you could rename Song of Redemption, what would you call it?

Freedom from Fear

Any additional comments?

This series has been thrilling. I listen with my Bible open... looking at maps and loving how it makes it seem so real. AWESOME

kept me on pins and needles

even though I knew the story I could not help being anxious at times. I'm sure I will remember this story the next time my faith begins to weaken I have an ear for voices and could always tell who was speaking. well done!

Excellent!

I love this 2nd book in the series, as it continues to bring the Bible to life. Austin continues to write a narrative that increases the listener’s faith. The narrator is excellent also.

The Lord’s victory!

Wonderful depiction of the culture and possible personalities of King Hezekiah’s reign. I wanted the story to continue.

Excellent!

Excellent! Surprisingly so!
Carefully crafted. Seems in character with historical accounts of the time. Three more words required for a review: oh, well….
