Publisher's Summary

When a brutal snowstorm shut down all the flights in and out of Chicago, Todd Curry and a few other stranded passengers rented a Jeep to drive the rest of the way to their destinantions. But along a forested, isolated road, they picked up a disoriented man wandering through the snow. His car wouldn't start and his daughter had vanished. Strangest of all were the mysterious slashes cut into the back of his coat, straight down to the flesh....When they arrived in the nearest town it seemed deserted. Cars sat in the streets with their doors open. Fires burned unattended. But Todd and the rest of the travelers will soon learn the town is far from deserted, for they're being watched....and hunted. Soon they will discover the inhuman horrors that await them in the Snow.

Action kept my attention

I needed a departure - I had this book on my wish list for a while and finally listened to it. The story is fast and so it kept me listening to it all the way to the end - the narration is very good, and that does a lot for this story. I would put it on the level of a 1950's sci fi movie, which can be a good time. I want to ding this story for some reason but the truth is I was kept entertained by it and in the end that is what it was written to do. It may be a little cheesy but that does not kill it, go ahead, if this is your genre then it will probably be a story you will enjoy.

Wrong Reader

Jeff Pringle, with his Country Bears voice, was the wrong reader for this horror story. It was like listening to Santa Claus read Lovecraft - a complete mismatch.

The story wasn't bad, though it brought to mind the plot for "Chubby Rain," the movie being made in the movie Bowfinger. Perhaps it wouldn't have if the reader had been Phil Gigante or Bronson Pinchot, someone who could have made the terror terrorizing. Still, a fair effort from Malfi at a SciFi/Horror mashup.

This book reminded me of Stephen Kings The Mist,so being a big Mr King fan i was hooked.
The poor guy just wants to be home in time for Christmas to see his son,but the snow is too bad and of course he has to find a different form of transport to get there,it just don't happen, but what does happen is a total nightmare trapped in a small town with zombie type folk and kids with no faces its quite chilling,i loved it well worth a listen.
