I highly recommend this book. It has a crispness of writing that placed the reader not only immediately in the environment but successfully captures the emotional tone of the characters in a clear and distinct way. There are not pages and pages of internal dialogue as a crutch to create point of views or to sort out scenes when the artistry of the writer has achieved it so succinctly..
It is impossible to put down. Each mounting concern brings great suspense and an ache for the humanity it uncovers.
Polly is the child in all of us. Feeling alienated because of her intelligence and perhaps her homelife, she understands her place in the world by not being of this world; Polly is from Venus. This is a comforting tool she tells herself when childhood experiences don't quite measure up. Just as her teddy bear has a place in her world . He is a constant creating the companionship and unconditional love that is needed., until her ex con father picks her up from school, never to go home again. That's where the darkness lies and the harrowing journey begins in a green monster of a car that has you facing evil at every turn and courage that can only be measured by the constancy of love between a father and his child.
This book pulled me in from the beginning. The characters are unique and believable. I'll be looking for more by this author.
