Publisher's summary

With nothing but the clothes on his back - and something horrific snapping at his heels - Jack Winter fled his rural Georgia home when he was just a boy. Watching the world he knew vanish in a trucker’s rearview mirror, he thought he was leaving an unspeakable nightmare behind forever.

Now, years later, the bright new future he’s built suddenly turns pitch black, as something fiendishly familiar looms dead ahead.

Surviving a violent car crash seems like a miracle for Jack’s family, but Jack knows there’s nothing divine about it. The profound evil he uncovered as a boy has finally found him again. The thing that crouched at his bedside with soulless eyes and grinning, razor-sharp teeth is back with plans for Jack and his angelic youngest daughter, and a chilling promise: I’ve always been here, and I’ll never leave.

Good book TW:Dog Death

I usually don’t finish books with the death of an animal but I pushed through. It was pretty good but also I am now going to petition to ban writers from killing animals in their stories.

creepy listen

I must admit the ending was quite shocking. Up until that point I was thinking, "this isn't too scary "

Haunting, spooky, great ending

While I really liked SEED, I wasn't quite pulled into it as much as I would have liked. I'm not sure why because all the elements of a good horror book are there. And I was left with a creepy, spooky feeling through the whole book. However, for some reason, it felt like something was missing.

Jack is driving home with his family late one night when something runs across the road and Jack ends up flipping the car. From that point forward, Jack's youngest daughter Charlotte starts to act differently. Things start happening around the house, things which awakens Jack's past. A past that Jack ran away from as a teenager and that now threatens to destroy his family.

As I mentioned above, all the elements are there for a good horror story. An evil, unknown past. A menacing something that plays tricks on the family. A family being pulled slowly apart. Additionally, I really liked the ending; it was a perfect hopeful, sad, and tragic ending that followed the rules of the book. Looking back, it was also the ending that I should have predicted. Still looking back, I would have liked to feel a bit more. The events were tragic but at times they seemed disconnected from the characters. Aimee (Jack's wife) seemed like she was a strong character but she lost it pretty quick. In the end, I would still recommend SEED because it will haunt you. I do look forward to the next book I read by Ahlborn.

Interesting and creepy.

Where does Seed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I read 'Brother' by Ania Ahlborn and loved that as well, thats why I gave this one a shot, and I was not disappointed. This book was great! It was fast paced, creepy, and well written. It was an interesting twist on demonic possession and the end was a killer!

Who was your favorite character and why?

The weird man that called everybody 'Chief' was my favorite character and you'll find out why after you listen.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was so fast paced and interesting. I didn't want to put it down and it was short enough that I finished it in two nights.

Any additional comments?

Definitely read this gem. There are some genuine scary scenes that will creep you out.

Perfect Tale For Horror Lovers

I've always been terrified of children, and this really slid that terror home. This is a creepy and unsettling story of a family being haunted by a demon from one generation to the next. What I thoroughly enjoyed about this novel is the demon isn't heavily featured so much as the actions of the ones it possesses are. The creep factor is built by the subtle actions of the characters in the book and didn't need over-top shocking scenes to build dread and terror. The paranormal in this just a tool used to haunt the reader adding a touch of seasoning to a perfectly written novel. Another great read for horror lovers.
