Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of Daughters of the Bride comes the charming tale about the problem with secrets, the power of love, and the unbreakable bond between sisters.

Kelly Murphy's life as a tulip farmer is pretty routine - up at dawn, off to work, lather, rinse, repeat. But everything changes one sun-washed summer with two dramatic homecomings: Griffith Burnett - Tulpen Crossing's prodigal son, who's set his sights on Kelly - and Olivia, her beautiful, wayward, and, as far as Kelly is concerned, unwelcome sister. Tempted by Griffith, annoyed by Olivia, Kelly is overwhelmed by the secrets that were so easy to keep when she was alone.

But Olivia's return isn't as triumphant as she pretends. Her job has no future, and ever since her dad sent her away from the bad boy she loved, she has felt cut off from her past. She's determined to reclaim her man and her place in the family - whether her sister likes it or not. For 10 years she and Kelly have been strangers. Olivia will get by without her approval now.

While Kelly and Olivia butt heads, their secrets tumble out in a big, hot mess, revealing some truths that will change everything they thought they knew. Can they forgive each other - and themselves - and redefine what it means to be sisters?

Told with Mallery's trademark heart and humor, the Tulip Sisters are in for the most colorful summer of their lives....

Didn't Finish the Book

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Take out the sexually explicit content and it would have been a great story.

Would you be willing to try another book from Susan Mallery? Why or why not?

Probably won't buy another. May get one from the library and give it a chance but when authors include unnecessary sexual content it takes away from good writing.

Have you listened to any of Tanya Eby’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Great narrator!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Secrets of the Tulip Sisters?

All sexual details. They're not necessary, especially when you have a good story.

No Doubt The Worst Book I Ever Spent Good Money On

What disappointed you about Secrets of the Tulip Sisters?

Basically everything disappointed me. Let's start with the publisher's summary of the book I read before spending a credit on this elementary book of fiction. The book summary was very misleading. I typically purchase mysteries & thrillers (psychological) and the summary lead me to believe that this book was such. But instead I got a sappy romance story that read like a high school English assignment-writing your first novel. People do NOT talk like the characters in this book and the unexpected and poorly placed sex scene descriptions were if not raunchy (and I am not a prude), were at the very least so implausible as to be laughable! Lastly, the characters were introduced so randomly and so quickly I had a very hard time keeping track of the characters at the beginning of the book. Sure wish I could get my credit back!!!!!

What do you think your next listen will be?

A true mystery or pyschological thriller

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really. When reading the book's description, one of the things that was mentioned was the stories setting which I liked as well as the'tulip farming/industry' reference. I liked the setting and the incorporation of the Tulip Farming-Tourist feature but it was given short shrift and when referenced, sounded comical.

Any additional comments?

I wish that if a reader is truly dissatisfied and is mislead by the book's description, they should be able to get their money back.

Excellent book

Loved this book. Captured my attention from the beginning to the end. Characters were people taken from real life - flawed, funny, sad - real. Liked how women were portrayed as real - different sizes and shapes but all loved by their men. They weren’t a perfect size 2 and drop dead beautiful. Loved the book!

Loved it!

Susan Mallery just keeps getting better and better. She has a way of bringing you into her world and making you forget all about life for a little while. The narrator, Tanya Eby does a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. All in all, this was a very enjoyable listen.

What a fun book!

Great book! Friendship, romance, love and even some contention. Thank you for not filling it with excess obscene language! Can’t wait for more books like this...
