I liked the book well enough. It was a whodunit which is my favorite. There were some weak point that might be spoilers. And towards the end it was huh how?
Would you listen to Save a Horse... again? Why?
Yes, because I enjoyed the two main characters - Skye (sp?) and Cole. Cole was a sweetheart and the narrator defined each of their voices (although it was close sometimes). And I actually found myself really enjoying some scenes - like when Cole had to sit thru a lie detector test - his reactions were priceless.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Yes, the ending was a nice surprise.
Have you listened to any of Nick J. Russo’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, and while he's not a favorite author when he does cowboys he's very good.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me laugh and made me happy. I liked that the two MCs got a chance with each other and their blissful happiness was contagious. Their fear was also very realistically portrayed and made me sad. But there were more times I laughed than not.
Any additional comments?
This is a story worth reading/listening to. I would listen to it again. It had a good story and the characters were quite fun/interesting. I didn't like Russo's voices for the brothers and father - they were uneven and a little hard to understand (in his effort to make them different).
Good story, nice portrayal of gay life in a small town. Though the characters tended to be stereo types and Cole could easily have been female, the story kept rolling along at a good pace. It wonder if another story follows these characters, Cole and Sky in their new lives? Nick Russo's narration gave the story an extra dimension, I will look forward to hearing more from him.
