Publisher's summary

Jake Goodall is a Texas bull rider who's used to keeping his preference for men under wraps. Brent Miller is a wealthy New York businessman who has never had to hide. When Brent's car breaks down in Jake's hometown, the two of them begin a romance that might be hazardous to their health.

From the prairies of Texas to the lights of New York and back again, from Western rodeos to big-city gay bars to a courtroom in Dallas, can the bull rider from the Lone Star State and the businessman from New York buck the odds to stay together?

Epilogue is So Wrong

I debated with myself about posting this review. I loved the majority of the story. The dramatic timing is well done. I thought Jake’s wording at the beginning was a bit crude but it fit his character and the way he was raised so it is understandable. Then the epilogue played and it felt so dark without a spark of hope or a positive memorial that is spoiled the whole story for me. I felt that the story had an overall message of hope and love overcoming even the worst life can give. But after the epilogue the violence and hateful talk took over that love and hope of the story. So I’m giving it 3 because most of the story was very well written but the ending hit me hard and really felt depressing which could just be me. I listened to the audio version was so very well done. #CMCon24

Don’t listen to the epilogue

Why didn’t I pay attention to the other reviews?!? I enjoyed the story right up until the epilogue. I just don’t get why that ending had to be tacked on.
Mr. Canon did fine as a narrator. He did a good job at keeping individual voices distinct and managed to convey emotion and passion. I would listen to him again.
