Publisher's Summary

Val Darrant was just four years old the snowy night his mother abandoned him. But instead of meeting a lonely death, he met Will Reilly - a gentleman, a gambler, and a worldly, self-taught scholar. For 10 years they each were all the family the other had, traveling from dusty American boomtowns to the cities of Europe - until the day Reilly’s luck ran out in a roar of gunfire.
But it wasn’t a gambling brawl or a pack of thieves that sealed Will’s fate. It was a far more complex story that Val would soon uncover, one that touched upon Val’s nearly forgotten childhood, the woman who was Will Reilly’s lost love, and the violent future of a growing country.

Another Great Read By Louis L'Amour

This is a touching story about a man alone who raises a boy nobody wants, and taught him to be a man. An honest gambler, he and the boy travel in many countries, but it's the west they love.

The narrator gave a good performance.

A must read for L'Amour fans, or great as a first read for those unfamiliar with his stories.

One of my favorite stories

Would you consider the audio edition of Reilly's Luck to be better than the print version?

Not sure -- haven't read in print, but this audio version is truly engaging.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Of course it's Reilly -- to take responsibility for a young child and do an excellent job of parenting is outstanding.

Have you listened to any of Beau Bridges’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is great in this one.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Figuring how to nurse Tensleep thru an injury -- engaging and easy to empathize.

Any additional comments?

I am a L'Amour fan. This one stands out in a strong field -- great character development and story line.
