Against the backdrop of the D-day battlefront and in a series of flashbacks on the home front, Charles Trammel, student at Trammel Academy, an East Coast Ivy League prep school, contemplates and investigates the meaning of honor through viewing his familial past, tempestuous present, and unknown future. He begins to understand what it means to be honorable as he is influenced by the actions of a young WWII draftee. Placement tells the story of this young man's life and his struggle to understand his lot in life and place in the world, all while developing his own meaning of honor.
