Publisher's summary

He knows the one thing that would destroy me would be to separate me from my daughter...

Catherine Clarke defied her family's expectations when she married Gabriel, a handsome Lebanese businessman. After moving to Gabriel's homeland and welcoming a baby daughter, Catherine knew she had to acclimate herself to the strange new world. Yet both her husband and her surroundings became more volatile and threatening than she could have ever imagined.

When Gabriel forbids her to return to the States, Catherine devises a plan to deceive him, but she vastly underestimates how far he will go to punish her. And after her daughter, Ann Marie, is abducted and taken deep into the mountains of Beirut - protected by family, culture, and law - the only thing on Catherine's side is the fierceness of a mother's love. She's prepared to move heaven and earth to find her child.

Told from alternating points of view - that of a daughter whose past is a mystery and of a mother with painful secrets to share - this profoundly moving story of impossible risks will resonate with anyone whose love has no boundaries.

Heartbreaking and healing

There are no lengths a mother won't go to in order to protect their child.

This story is captivating. One were the daughter stumbles upon the lawyer who once helped her mother in a heartbreaking effort to bring her daughter back, her only child, the woman sitting in front of the lawyer who has no idea what he's referring to.

The story moves between present day and decades before when her mother met her father and they had her. It sucked me in, turning pages just to know what happens next. And even tho I knew what was coming based on the premise of the book, each twist and turn gripped my heart, stole my breath, and made the tears fall. So good.

Good read

An unusual story about lost loves and the tragedy that ensues when love goes wrong. The story is about a woman going through a very hard divorce and the dynamics between her father and mother during their early marriage and subsequent divorce, as well as her abduction from her mother. Like so many non-fiction books about strong women, this is one of those books that makes us so thankful that we are born in the US.

Not my favorite book

Too formula for me, and I didn't enjoy the jumping back and forth in time.

I highly recommend this book!

I am literally kicking myself (it is proving to be quite the visual) for never having read Dina Silver prior to No Time to Blink. This book came highly recommended to me by several different people and I am so grateful that I took them up on their suggestion and finally read this book. This was easily one of my top reads of 2018. You know how people say "it gave me all the feels"? Well, I truly had all of the feels throughout this book. One minute I would be cheering, then I would find myself sitting on the edge of my seat followed by tears. While there are love and relationships involved, this isn't a romance novel. No Time to Blink is centered around Catherine and Ann Marie, a mother and daughter, and eases from past to present seamlessly. It is a beautiful story showing that there are no lengths too great when it comes to a mother's love. It is also a great reminder that it doesn't matter how old you are, it is okay to still need your mom and her guidance. There were impactful messages about how powerful forgiveness can be, no matter how big the betrayal and that there is hope for the future even in the darkest of times. I encourage you to read this story, it will resonate with you for a long time.
