great writing and performance, but no idea why the incidental music was put in. Unnecessary, even if it had been good music, but seems to seep in at pointless moments, adding nothing except mild irritation.

Let others pray for world peace: I simply pray for Stephen King to live line enough to write another volume of his fantastic short stories. For me, one of the signs of a great story is when you find the plot and characters coming to mind in the days after you finish reading them. This happened (and is still happening) with this collection. The sight of road works now always makes me think of a teacher with murder on his mind. I loved this collection - and what a fantastic team of narrators!

I found that some actors had the magic touch reading these... others sounded a little stilted... or worse- too familair to draw you into the story. No offence to the Voice Actor of Lisa Simpson- but I couldn't get the image out of my head while listening to her story/laugh...
In any case my favourite stories have to be Chattery Teeth & Crouch End- and they'll both stick with me- : )
A trusted friend advised me that this is one of King's best collections. I was looking forward to it, but the overall quality was disappointing. There are a few good stories, but the majority range from average to downright terrible. I can name at least three that are practically about NOTHING. They go nowhere and have no plot. Just people sitting around talking.
The narrators equally run the spectrum. Some are great, others are barely tolerable. I'm personally not a fan of King himself narrating. Good narrators draw you into the story, King just feels like a guy reading off the page. No range at all.
