Publisher's summary

In Mustang Man, Louis L’Amour takes Nolan Sackett on a dangerous journey into family betrayal, greed, and murder.

When Nolan Sackett met Penelope Hume in a cantina at Borregos Plaza, the girl immediately captured his attention. That she was heir to a lost cache of gold didn’t make her any less desirable. But Penelope isn’t the only one after her grandfather’s treasure; Sylvie, Ralph, and Andrew Karnes, distant relatives with no legal claim to the gold, are obsessed with claiming the Hume fortune for themselves. Their all-consuming sense of entitlement recklessly drives them to ambush and murder.

Even if Sackett and Penelope are fortunate enough to escape this deadly trio and find the canyon where the gold is hidden, Indian legend has it that nothing will live there - no birds or insects. They say it is filled with the bones of men.

Terrence Mann is 3rd best narrator after David Strathairn and John Curless

Very good Narrator, but not near as good as David Strathairn and John Curless. I have not disliked any of the Sackett narrators.

Love Louis L Amour and David Strathairn together

I have read 56 audible books of Louis lamour. Many of them twice. David Strathairn . Is by far the best reader. I think Last of the breed was one of my favorites, then the Sacket series. I wish his son would do a sequel to Last of the breed. You would sell a million copies the first day out. Really!
To the family of L Amour? Please keep these great stories going. No one else can tell a story like L Amour.

Great narrator!!

I’m a great fan of Louis L’Amour. Have been for years. I own a copy of most of the Westerns. That said, I was delighted to hear it for the first time, with a narrator whose voice was so right for this story- i will definitely look for the books read by him for my next L’Amour purchases!

Research

I love the Sackett series even more once I found out Mr L’Amour (his real name)had collected one of the most extensive accounts of the history he writes about. I read them about 20 years ago and was thrilled to find the On Audiobooks.
I’ve listened to each one 2 or 3 times and am adding to the collection as I go. His knowledge is so great and he comes by it through his life experience. I consider myself well read.
