"Iron...and...salt," whispers the old man. The dead old man. "Hurry or it will be too late...."
To escape the stress of living in the city and the anxiety of his high pressure job, Brian Roy moves his family to the country. His wife loves the easy living, but Brian hates it...especially when weird things start happening in the house. When he discovers a dead body in the woods and a burial ground in his basement, Brian could never imagine the shocking history of the house or its former occupants that comes to light.
As his life starts to unravel, Brian isn't so sure living in the country is going to be the oasis of peace he and his wife expected. Lately, his home has become a haunting den of hell.

This was incredibly scary and creepy and I enjoyed every second of it, though I couldn't listen to it at night ;)

When Brian and Jenny move into a house in the country because of Brian's heart, they never expected to get more than they paid for! As soon as they move in they realise that something isn't right in their house and thy have some unexpected guests! Then they find a grave yard in their basement, the basement that keeps opening by itself!! What is going on and just who is the incredibly creepy ass kid!!

This was a really quick listen though didn't feel like it as so much was happening and so many different characters were introduced, some living but most dead!! The characters (both living and dead) were well written and developed. I really liked Brian and Jenny, though I have to say that Leo was my favourite even though he wasn't introduced till near the end!!

The plot was really fast paced and addicting. You are brought into the action right from the start and it doesn't stop till the very end. The ghosts were all so creepy but none more so than Sam. He totally freaked me out!!!

In all, a well written story that gave me chills. This is an author that I need to check out and see more of their books!! Definitely recommend, though maybe not at night!!!

Andrew Tell has sealed himself as one of my favourite narrators. He is easy to listen to and always gives his all when telling a story. He has plenty of tones and voices and always knows when to use the right one at the right time! I recommend him to anyone wanting to start out listening to audios.

*I received a copy of this for review from the narrator, author or publisher for review. This in no way affected my thoughts.*

Enjoyed Listening in the Dark

I was hooked from the beginning. I grew up hearing ghost stories and would go riding around the back roads with my aunts looking for ghosts. Good times for sure. This book reminded me of those times. The story captivated me. Though, at times, it seemed like there were a lot of characters, many killings with the ghost to prove it.
I thought Brian and Jenny were realistic, average people, though Jenny did react weirdly at times. I took that to be a part of her personality. Maybe not the way I would react but then we all have quirks and our own ways of dealing with stressful situations. The characters of Sam and Leo I enjoyed the most. The ghosts were well written. I liked that some were good and others were evil. That goes with every good ghost story I heard growing up. I wouldn't call the book absolutely horrifying but it does have its moments. I liked that not every encounter had me terrified. In my opinion that is what made it realistic.
I enjoyed this narrator. He varied his voice for characters and scenes. Sometimes in listening to a book, I can fall asleep. It is the narrator who makes a difference for me. Andrew Tell kept me awake and invested. I think he was a good match for the story.
I purchased this for my Kindle but then was given the Audible version for review purposes, (I do not receive any type of compensation for my reviews. They consist of my true feelings and thoughts while reading or listening to a book.) I have to say I absolutely loved listening to it with the lights off. That definitely was a treat. If you like to hear creepy ghost stories in the dark then I definitely recommend getting this book from Audible. I am planning on reading more of this series, hopefully listening in the dark!
