Publisher's summary

"I had a secret: I wanted to leave the earth in a spectacular fashion. Specifically, by leaping from the Eiffel Tower." So begins this provocative coming-of-age novel about a teenage girl bent on self-destruction and revenge, set in the City of Light.

It's the summer of 1999, the end of a millennium. In the mind of Nessa Baxter, a girl from rural Illinois, Paris is the remedy for all of her woes. The death of her beloved brother and the betrayal by her classmate Kat has left Nessa bereft and doubtful about her future. She plans to exact revenge on Kat during their renegade French Club trip. Along with classmates Whitney and Kiran, the four girls embark on a series of misadventures in Paris. As part of her plan, Nessa starts a game of truth or dare that spirals out of control.

A suspenseful psychological drama, Midair is the story of a young girl's descent into darkness and the secrets we keep, even from ourselves.

Truth or Dare Gone Wrong

Overall, I liked this story. It is about four girls on their senior trip in Paris and how a game of truth or dare gets darker and darker as their trip progresses. Where I had a hard time with this story is A) the writing was very immature at times, making me feel like a 17 year old was actually the one who wrote the story, not just the main character. B) The main character plays the victim time and time again instead of rising to the occasion and fighting back a little and C)...with out giving away any spoilers...there was several parts of the ending that just plain didn't have to happen and left me just wanting to shake the girl and scream "WHY??!!".

Wow

Beautiful story. The narrator really holds your attention. The end was not what I expected.

Awful

Narration was fine. In fact probably did a really good job considering the material.

Story was slightly engaging but awful. Flat characters and incredibly annoying narrator. Not to mention the *spoilers* .... rape plot at the end. Absolutely stupid and unrealistic.

Meh

Depressingly whiney

I only stuck through the book to find out who the kid was named after.
