Publisher's Summary

More than 600,000 copies sold in Germany, knocking both J.K. Rowling and Dan Brown off the best-seller lists. The most successful German novel since Patrick Süskind's Perfume.Measuring the World recreates the parallel but contrasting lives of two geniuses of the German Enlightenment - the naturalist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt and the mathematician and physicist Carl Friedrich Gauss. Daniel Kehlmann has produced a novel of rare charm and readability, distinguished by its sly humor and unforgettable characterization.

A fascinating story beautifully told. The narration was a pleasure to listen to.

Apparently about maths, and there's plenty of that, but really a reflection on life.

My only complaint is that it was too short.
